300 plastic bags per person per year

30.5 billion large (LL) plastic bags are used in a single year in Japan.
That’s 300 large plastic bags per person and equates to about 3kg.
Plastic bags are made from oil. It can be microplastics, plastic debris less than 5 millimeters in length if we don’t dispose it properly.
30.5 billion plastic shopping bags are made, and it takes 420,000 kiloliters of energy in terms of crude oil to be processed. For each plastic shopping bag, it is calculated to require 13.8 ml of crude oil.
